ANIMA is built on curiosity, collaboration and community.

We are an independent documentary studio making nonfiction in all its forms, from short documentaries and experimental films to ambitious feature-length work and beyond.

Everything starts with curiosity. A person, a place, an idea, a question, something that makes us want to know more. We follow that curiosity and see where it takes us.

We have made award winning features and continue to develop and make cinematic long-form work alongside our short documentary strand that we call PAUSE, creating short stories for festivals and social platforms with a focus on collaboration and reaching a wider audience. We are also keen to create opportunities for more people to get into documentary and build an a community so we welcome people looking to gain hands-on experience on real productions or we can help bring short documentary ideas and formats to life.

And a story doesn't have to end when the credits roll. It can spark a conversation, a podcast, an exhibition, a piece of social content or something entirely unexpected. We use different formats to take documentary further, build audiences around our work and create new ways for people to engage with it.
